Birkenfeld's Gambit for Lighter Sentence Fails
As previously reported in this blog and elsewhere, Bradley Birkenfeld has made a full court press both in court and out to get his 40 month sentence reduced. The reports out today is that he failed; the sentencing judge denied his request for reconsideration. Here is the Wall Street Journal report, and here is the Tax Prof Blog report. Oh, well, at least he still has some possibility for a whistleblower claim in the mega-millions.
